Om tidskriften
Annales Fennici Mathematici was founded in 1941 by P.J. Myrberg under the name Annales Academiæ Scientiarum Fennicæ Series A. I. Mathematica. It was edited by P.J. Myrberg until 1974, by Olli Lehto until 1998 and by Olli Martio until 2021. The current Editor-in-Chief is Pekka Koskela. The name of the journal was simplified to Annales Academiæ Scientiarum Fennicæ Mathematica in 1996. Up to 1974 articles were numbered consecutively. The first issue under the current numbering scheme was published in 1975. The journal was owned and published by Academia Scientiarum Fennica until 2021 when the Finnish Mathematical Society took over as the owner. During the transition process the name of the journal was further simplified to Annales Fennici Mathematici (abbreviated below to Ann. Fenn. Math.).
Ann. Fenn. Math. publishes papers in all fields of mathematics. Historically the emphasis has been on analysis. The composition of the editorial board attempts to reflect the core mathematical fields in Finland. The authors may suggest any member of the editorial board as the handler of their work. Submitted papers are initially screened for suitability for publication in Ann. Fenn. Math. Those papers that pass the screening process are sent to one or more experts for peer evaluation. The refereeing process is single-blind. The average acceptance rate of submitted papers has been slightly below 25% in recent years. One volume, divided into two issues, is published annually. The published papers are freely available at https://afm.journal.fi starting from volume 1, 1975. The published papers became freely available in 1995, making the journal one of the first open access journals in the world.
The authors of papers accepted for publication in Ann. Fenn. Math. are required to sign a consent-to-publish agreement before their work gets processed. They are allowed to post electronic versions of their papers provided that each posting is accompanied with a text stating that the final version of the article is published in Ann. Fenn. Math. (with volume, page numbers and DOI, once available). The papers published in Ann. Fenn. Math. are distributed under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
As of now, the journal is fully open, without page charges.
